For THREE (3) individual topics, complete the following “Cube Exercise.” Submit them as one document, with the topic of your preference first. You may not get this topic, so be sure that you fully develop the other topics, or you may find yourself having to redo this assignment. You may not move forward in the researching process until you have an approved topic.1. Write a question that describes the issue you are researching.2. Write an answer to that question — this a working thesis statement. If you are struggling, use the “dummy thesis” and finish this statement: “This paper is about … and how … or why …. “3. Make a list of ten things you already know about the idea/topic.4. Make a list of ten things you want to know more about the idea/topic.5. Write a theme statement (remember, this answers the question “What is the point or message of my paper.” Ultimately, this theme statement becomes your conclusion.6. Using the lists of ten, cluster them in by subtopics. You should end up with at least four. List them. These become your research points.Remember, you will do this three times for three topics. One will be approved. If you can’t think of ten things you already know about a topic, it’s probably not a good topic idea.
