For the Visual Culture Impact Essay students are required to use a minimum of two academic
sources that are not from course readings, along with a minimum of four academic sources from
our course material [please note: readings “From Popular Culture” in our syllabus are not
academic sources.] For this assignment students will provide an annotation of the two sources
they are considering. These annotations should include 1) a brief summary of key points in the
article; 2) how this article relates to the visual trend, images or case study in question for your
final project.
Students are expected to provide an introduction with a basic outline of the visual trend/images/
case study they will be writing about, and a conclusion that outlines why these sources were
selected to help in analysis and exploration of their proposed trend/images/case study.
The Low Down: Strong research skills are an asset in jobs in a variety of professional setting.
More so, being able to find appropriate information for the questions that need to be answered
and finding the right kind of source to answer the question (in this case it is an academic source).
Being able to explain what you have read and how/why it answers a question is an important
skill to develop.
Assignments should be 500-750 words, double-spaced, 12 pt. font, and include a bibliography of
all source material used. This assignment is due Monday November 15th 2021, and should be
