UNICEF provides several modalities for engaging in the sustainable development Goals, which includes technology (United Nations, 2018). The UN understands that the widespread connectivity for internet enables most your people to engage in different campaigns and it is critical for UN to support initiatives that can enhance internet’s use across the world (United Nations 2018). The United Nations claims that if it wants to eradicate poverty and even reorient the Sustainable trajectories of development over 2015-2030.

There is a need for affordable solutions of technology to be developed disseminated across the world for the coming 15 years (United Nations Department of Economic 2008). Such values are normally embodied in the Universal declaration of human rights and are developed in the international covenant on civil and political rights that enshrines numerous civil and political liberties that underpin the meaningful democracies.

The activities of the United Nations in supporting governance and democracy are usually called out through UNDP (United Nations Development Program), Department of Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations Democracy Fund, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and The UN Women (United Nations for Gender And Equality and The Empowerment of Women, and others (Kim 2010). These activities can be separated from the UNs task of protecting human rights, development, security, and peace. UN does the following

  • Helping parliaments to improve the check and balances, which allow democracy to thrive—the agency actively participates in developing democracies to help them to allow transparency and accountability to pave way for the development of democracy in the country.
  • Helping in strengthening the effectiveness and impartiality of national human rights institutions, security systems, and justice (Conforti and Focarelli 2016)

Development is supposed to achieve a more satisfactory emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and moral existence (United Nations 2018). Therefore, culture cannot be separated from development strengthening the cultural contributions to the SDGs that was launched in line with the World Decade for Cultural Development (1988 to 1998) (Meisler 2011). Since then, progress is made because there are instruments of the corpus of standard setting and tools of demonstration like inventories, national and regional cultural resources mapping,

In light of this, its main challenge is convincing the local, international, and political decision-makers to integral the cultural diversity principles and cultural pluralism values into every public officer, practices, and mechanism through private and public partnerships (The UN 2018). The strategy aims at incepting culture into every policy development, related to communication since education, environment health o cultural tourism (United Nations 2018). Also, it is critical in supporting the cultural sector development through the creative industries. When such contributions are made with respect to alleviating poverty, social cohesion is developed.

UN’s role on social development is always guided by different international agreements which includes the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Program of Action of the World Summit for Social Development, Madrid international plan for action on ageing, intentional nuclear of the family objectives, World Program of Action On Youth, High Level Meeting on Disability and Development Outcome, and 3RD United Nations Decade For The Eradication of poverty.
