UNIT 16: Managing Communications, Knowledge, and Information
The current Google’s knowledge and information structures are vulnerable to various potential problems in collecting, formatting, storage and dissemination of information. In particular, the expansion projects in various global regions such as Google in the UK would lead to large-scale incremental processing of data such as distributed transaction and notifications. As noted from the modern business world, responding to rules and logics of business such as real time response to the customers’ needs is vital.
Therefore, some of the appropriate changes that Google Company should consider in improving its current system of managing knowledge and information include:
Management Information Systems (MIS):Managing Communications
MIS provides support to programmed decisions that are made in response to structured problems. The primary purpose of MIS is to help Google Company to meet its organization’s needs by filling various gaps existing in the communication processes (Baldauf & Stair, 2010).
Decision Support System (DSS)
DSS enables organizations in the decision-making process by providing relevant information that relates to a particular situation of interest. In the context of Google Company, using DSS forecasts on profitability by the marketing department, through which information is provided about the product pricing decisions promptly, perform risk analysis, and among others. Consequently, this would help in minimizing customer complaints on the same (Baldauf & Stair, 2010).
