One short applied writing assignments (4-6 pages each) in which you analyze some topic of current events or contemporary societal significance related to the themes of the course. Find an example that is described in a newspaper, magazine, blog post, etc. and analyze the phenomenon or circumstances described using the material covered in class, referencing at least one assigned reading. You are encouraged to use these assignments as an opportunity to think through the ideas of one or more course readings in detail, and/or to start analyzing a case to which they could be applied (and later expanded upon in the final paper). Due T 3/12.
