The conflict between Christianity and Islam.
Culture beliefs are influenced by the dominant Ideology, and within any dominant culture, a segment of the population may develop cultural patterns that may differ from the patterns of the dominant one and. This is what we are going to discuss taking into consideration the conflict that comes between the Islamic and Christian nations which have different types of beliefs and cultures, (Schaefer, 2012, p). There exist varsity of religion around the world, with which they have their own belief of God and the different ways through which they worship Him. In our case, we are going to focus only on two types of religion, which seem to be in constant conflict all the time, Islam and Christianity. Each religion has a strong belief that their own is more important than the other, (ethnocentrism) and that if you are found going against the norms and values that are usually laid down by them, you may receive punishment, (sanction). This is what is happening to a state like Nigeria and most Asian countries like Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.
According to the clip, those Christians belonging to those countries must confine to the values and norms that have been set or they face life threats or chased away from their homes. Christians believe that most of the Islamic people are mostly involved in terrorist acts, (cultural relativism) since it is believed by other Muslims that by doing that you enter heaven. These are just beliefs though, which may not or may be true in some people, but then no one knows, (Masaeli, 2017, p). Most of inter conflict between the people in the countries are brought by this culture in religion, as each one wants to feel they are superior to the other, hence there is always the existence of the so-called global culture war.
Some norms are considered good in Christianity and not really welcomed into the Islamic religion, and the vice versa is also right. For example, according to Christianity way of warship, they believe that no matter in one commits God will always forgive you if you pray for forgiveness, but that is not the case with the Muslims, who believe still believe in the Laws of Moses that not all sins deserve to be forgiven, like adultery, (Sizgorich, 2012, p). Hence the Muslims believe that if they can be able to observe certain values, most of their members can live holy lives, and thus the behaviors of the members of their community will always be good.
In conclusion, it is understood that to be able to live in these countries you have to be able to accept to adhere to their norms and values, language, and everything that is being practiced there. Nevertheless, the norms may be violated due to norm conflict especially if you are in a Cristian state, for example, reporting domestic violence after hearing screams to your neighbor’s house even though knowing that this conflict with the norm of minding your own business.
