Personal Class Reflection
It is the desire of every student to excel with flying colors in any course that he or she has enrolled for, and that’s the core reason why students constantly study hard. However, the cultural values of an academic institution are a key determinant to the performance of students. This paper pays high attention to my reflective response concerning the experience and knowledge that I gained in the school culture and addressing barriers to student achievement course.
From this course, I learnt that it is necessary to provide students with reading assignments as it enhances students` achievement in numerous ways. For example, students are equipped with skills of conduction personal research in the academic sources of information such as library and computer labs. For my case, I learnt that this culture helped me to familiarize myself with topics that are to be presented by the lecturer. This always made me to understand those topics better. In addition, it is necessary for teaching staffs to involve students in the presentation of various course materials. This helps students to gain knowledge and courage of standing and addressing crowds of people especially after school. This enabled me to gain courage of addressing people and to make my presentation be livelier through involving my audience in the presentation. After school, I am sure I will not find it difficult to attend job interviews, and more so to convince the interviewers that am best suited for the job. Consecutively, I learnt that class attendance is necessary since students manage to gasp most bits of the lectures.
I, therefore, encourage my fellow students to embrace reading assignments, course presentations, and class attendance as they contribute a lot in their way of academic excellence. However, learning institutions need to implement rules that would encourage students and teaching staffs to attend class lectures. For example, an institution may introduce class attendance register for students in every semester, and students who have missed a quarter of class attendance be banned from sitting for their final examinations.
