Leadership assessment constitutes an evaluation of personal strengths and in-built skills, which are essential in harnessing the capability to lead and manage other people. The inbuilt skills can be in-born or developed through life skills and leadership training. Therefore, leadership assessment helps leaders evaluate how best they are suited in the leadership position they currently hold or intends to occupy in the future (Sanzo, Myran, Caggiano, 2014). Mostly, leadership skills evaluation is done through leadership assessment tools which comprise of self-evaluation questions. I undertook a leadership test whose magnificent results reflected my management technique. I have always aspired to be an outstanding leader; thus, most of my personal goals are leadership-based. The positive outcome of the focus drive, trust influence and conceptual thinking in the assessment tool are brought about by my organization and the burning desire I have to achieve my goals.
The results from a leadership test can be used to determine a leadership approach that best fits a particular circumstance (Sanzo, Myran, Caggiano, 2014). When the competency score of an assessment is much weighted on trusted influence, the examinee is best suited for the situational leadership position (Camilius, 2011). This because the leader’s actions will be much influenced by the decisions and desires of his/her followers. High scores of focused drive and emotional intelligence could prompt adoption of the trait leadership option. High ratings or average scores distributed across the competency scores attributes for the contingency approach method (Camilius, 2011). This contingency approach considers the leader’s skills, followers’ desires and other factors that affect the scope of leadership. From my leadership assessments skills, I suppose I am best suited for the contingency approach since the competency score is relatively distributed across the leadership skills categories.
