Global warming arises when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants and greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Normally, this radiation would escape into space—but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. That’s what’s known as the greenhouse effect. Global warming arises once air pollutants such as carbon dioxide, industrial chemical and greenhouse gases are released to the atmosphere without prober regulatory measures. Once these gases are absorbed by the sunlight, then the radiation produced drip back to the earth’s atmosphere. Unfortunately these pollution gases which remain in the atmosphere for several years hold heat for a longer period hence make the earth even hotter. The effects of Global warming have been felt worldwide and less has been done to address the situation. (Weart, 2003)
Firstly, the frequent and rapid raising of sea water levels and flooding can be directly being attributed to global warming. Recently, scientist discovered that for the last 35 years, sea level has increased up to ten inches something that is worrying. For example, in 2004, Indonesia experienced waste Tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people and many other left homeless with billions of properties destroyed. Secondly, increased wildfire cases in United States and some parts of Australia have been due to global warming. Increased temperature has made many forests being hotter and incase of wildfire, thousands of forest acres are burned down.
Thirdly, Even though Hurricanes activities in our planet are natural climatic cycle, their destructive power has significantly increased for the last twenty years making immeasurable destruction whenever they occur. In 2018, California State in USA experienced the waste Hurricane category four that killed more than 500 people and leaving huge destruction across the state (Houghton, 2009).
Global warming has caused health concern. Climate changes due to temperature increase has let to prolonged allergy period, faster spread of diseases caused by insect-borne infections and heat waves which was recently experienced in many parts of Europe and some parts of Asian continent such as India and Pakistan. Other causes of global warming include; flooding due to heavier rain pour, destruction of natural marine ecosystem, increased drought periods which leads to famine and forest deaths due to high level of temperature especially on those rocky areas (Jones, 2013).
In conclusion, global warming has caused more harmful implications not only to human being but also to the entire ecosystem. Unless various governments across the world come up with global warming resolution as soon as possible, the earth will eat its own people. Frequent experienced hurricanes, prolonged drought, wildfire, flooding, diseases and Tsunami are some of the effect of global warning experienced in the recent years. It is the responsibility of the government, leaders and all environmental activities to create policies that will address global warming issues to make the world a safe place not for the present generation alone but the future one.
