Family Factors That Influence Personality And Social Development Of Children
Family plays a crucial role in the social development and personality of children, it is the foundation of a healthy development of children. According to research and teacher’s perceptions, families with both active and divorced parents are involved. Children have become central in family life and the structure of their families play a major role in their behavior. This essay aims at identifying the effects parents either living together or divorced have on children’s personality and behavior.
Children of single parents are vulnerable as they have more social development and personality behavior problems than those of parents staying together. Growing children respond to these behaviors: aggression, passivity and dependence, sexuality, social interaction, achievement, and recognition, and these matter a lot in the social evolution. A divorcee can negatively impact the experience a child has while growing. Children can face major stresses with a threatening experience making their reactions intense leading to confusion, resentment, and anger (Araujo, 2010).
Children will develop an aggressive behavior that makes them uncooperative. First, they will not have an ability of modulating the aggression as their feelings are determined by the absence of the parent and they will defend themselves with aggression and anger. Second, they will not have the ability to emotionally separate themselves from their parents since their emotional and psychological acceptance at home is important to their independence as they will feel safe (Araujo,2010). This is because the personality traits of these children are determined by the people they live with, and a divorcee may not give them a better social network, this will make them feel that they lack a sense of belonging, security, and stability.
The major conclusion about this observation is that there are more behavioral problems in children of divorced families than active ones. Divorce is also an essential variable, but the impact it has on children is crucial. These ideas will enable parents to understand behavior of children and find ways of dealing with the negative impacts hence perspective of children should be considered as their social development and personality is important.
