Endocrine Hormones & Function
The endocrine system consists of glands like the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pineal gland, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenal glands, pancreas, gonads as well as a few others. These glands are essential in controlling reproduction, growth, and development of body tissues, metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance, sleep, and stress.
Instructions:
•    Pick one of these glands and discuss the anatomy and physiology of the gland in relation to the endocrine function.
•    Describe a hormone secreted from that gland, the function of the hormone, and how the secretion of that hormone is controlled.  –Discuss if any other hormones influence the function of your chosen hormone.
–Describe why you picked this hormone and gland for your discussion topic.
–Exposure to environmental pollutants, hypersecretion or hyposecretion disorders of the endocrine system can occur and can be common.

1. Discuss and explain one example of a disruption of the normal functioning of the hormone.
2. Give examples of common ways we address this dysfunction through medicine, patient education, and/or lifestyle changes.
