Military Leaders Fighting the War on Terror
After the September 2001, terrorist attack, the U.S government declared Global War on Terror. The government aimed to destroy the terrorists training grounds as well as intercepting their activities. The government initiated military operations duped “Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom” in Iraq and Afghanistan respectively against Al Qaeda. Through the leadership of gallant soldiers such as General Petraeus and General Frank, the U.S soldiers were success in their mission. General Frank was the Commander-in-Chief of Central Command in Middle East. The success of military strategy in Afghanistan and Iraq is credited to General Frank exemplary leadership qualities. In addition, General Petraeus developed great military tactics that contributed to success of U.S soldiers. He employed counter-insurgency tactics in Iraq that help to win the hearts and minds of the local political organisations. Moreover, he introduced Human Terrain Team (HTTs). These groups of social scientists collected information from local population. The HTTs contributed to the efforts to successes in the war because they could offer information and recommendations related to military operations. Therefore, the war strategies were effectively implemented owing to the enigmatic leadership of the two Generals in Americans War on Terror.

This operation was dubbed “Operation Enduring Freedom”. Afghanistan was the hiding and training grounds for a terrorist organisation known as al Qaeda, the perpetrators of September 2001 attack (Webel, & Arnaldi, 2011). The terrorist group was also protected by Taliban regime in that country. The second major stage of Global War on Terror was “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” On March 2003, the U.S president George W. Bush declared the Operation Iraqi Freedom. Bush administration conducted the rid to tyrannical dictator in Iraq President Saddam Hussein. The government believe that he was planning to develop weapons of mass destructions (WMD) (Corum, 2007). In addition, Iraq was one of the “rogue states” across the world that trained and financed the terrorist operations. However, such operation could not have been successful without the efforts of great U.S military leaders such as General Tommy Franks and General David Petrateus.
