Article Reaction and Response
In the article titled Mental Health patients and Jail Administration, I feel that it is very unfortunate that the world’s wealthiest and most progressive nation still exhibits the inability to cater for the less fortunate members of the American society. An individual such as Roger admits to committing minor criminal offences for the sole purpose of being arrested and put into jail. As is evident from the article, Roger’s criminal activities are premeditated. He commits minor crime to be put in jail where from his point of view offers basic amenities which the general society fails to offer him. A warm bed, food and medication are cited as reasons why he seeks to be put behind bars. This not only puts the criminal justice system under a lot of unnecessary pressures but also places criminal justice professionals in situations that they are not trained in.
