The agricultural industry is a vital constituent for both our county’s economy and day to day livelihoods. It is a source of food and non food items, business and employment opportunities. Agriculture as a major source of income and employment, keeps our economy’s foreign trade balances in the positive territory.
Crop production and animal production are the two major fields in agriculture. Crop production involves growing of crops on farms for food and/or fibers. Animal production on the other hand entails farms or ranches for rearing of animals for sale or for animal products such as milk and eggs.
Individuals who run an agricultural business require land for crop or animal production which they may own or lease from an owner, who may be an owner of private land or government owned land.
